Polly

Polly – Gene Clark
      Polly

Polly was written by the hugely underrated Gene Clark (of the Byrds and Dillard & Clark fame) and has been notably covered by Chris Robinson and Robert Plant/Alison Krauss. It’s a great example of how simplicity in songs can still be extremely powerful. There really isn’t much to the song in terms of structure or chords but it’s got such a lovely flow to it and the gentleness of the melody helps the lyrics in conjuring up the perfect imagery.

This recording dates back to sometime in 2010 and it was made purely for the fun of recording one of my favourite songs.
